The cult of constant offense, permanent assaults, the unrestrained rebellious drive of daredevils and bold individuals, the frenzy of battle — this is the true “dvizh.” The term “dvizh” in modern Ukrainian military culture symbolizes the “entertainment” of real men in the greatest war of the last hundred years. Fierce and intense battles, in which soldiers risk their lives, are combined with drive and a sense of involvement in a great cause of our Ancestors. The “joy of struggle” and a feeling of elevation were known to warriors since the times of the Cossacks, during the era of the “Army of the Unconquered,” and in the great days of the War of Independence: through the years and up to the present day. Ukrainian military tradition embodies not only love of freedom, mastery in battle, and readiness to fight for what is rightfully one’s own, but also a passion for military life, danger, and an eternal struggle.
